Our Meetinghouse

Renting Space at TCFM

TCFM meets at 1725 Grand Avenue, a historic home with a large addition built by our community in the 1990s. We offer our meetinghouse for groups and organizations to use. We like to accommodate good causes and be a resource for our neighborhood. We ask that renters respect the Quaker values of tolerance and respect for others, and we reserve the right to cancel rental agreements for events that we believe are inconsistent with those values.

The spaces available for rental at TCFM are:

  1. The Meeting Room, where meeting for worship is held. The room is two stories high and has a grand piano, with windows on three sides.
  2. The Fellowship Room on the lower level, a good space for meals or for presentations by a speaker. There is a kitchen adjoining the fellowship room.
  3. The Front Conference Room, facing onto Grand Avenue, suitable for smaller meetings.

Accessibility

The meetinghouse is wheelchair-accessible through the main entrance, which can be reached by sidewalk ramp from the parking area behind the building (two spaces are marked for disability tags). The drop-off space in front of the building on Grand Avenue is available now, but starting in mid-July, a street construction project will close our two-block stretch of Grand Avenue for some months. See parking details below.

We have single-user, all-gender bathrooms on every level of the building which are large enough for a wheelchair or for a person needing assistance. There is a bathroom with a changing table upstairs by the First Day School classrooms. All levels of the building can be accessed by elevator.

We use a microphone and speakers during Meeting for Worship to ensure that spoken ministry and announcements can be heard. There are assistive listening devices available in the library which connect to the meeting room’s sound system.

If you have questions about the accessibility of the building or accommodations in our community, please contact us.

Parking for Cars and Bikes

In fall of 2024, parking near the meetinghouse is somewhat limited due to construction on at Hidden River Middle School next door (no parking in the school lots) and possible construction on Grand Avenue. Parking is allowed in the 10-car lot 2 blocks away at 1671 Summit Avenue (access from Pierce Street). Please allow extra time to park, and avoid parking in front of the homes on the Summit Avenue service road. Those with mobility restrictions are encouraged to use the 7-car parking area behind the meetinghouse, accessible from the alley off Wheeler Avenue between Grand and Summit. Two spaces are for vehicles with disability tags, and one is for drop-offs only.

Carpooling is encouraged, and bike racks are found on the west and north sides of the meetinghouse. Public transit is another option: Visit MetroTransit.org for details on the 63 bus (east-west) and A-line bus (north-south) that stop within two blocks of the meetinghouse.
